Local Golf Notebook, Oct. 25: Pros hold off Amateurs to win Honors Cup

The annual Honors Cup, which started in 1984 and pits a team of area golf professionals against a team of amateurs, was held Monday at Chechessee Creek Golf Club. And the buzz from the latest matches might carry over until next year.

The professionals won the Cup for a second consecutive year, sneaking out of Chechessee Creek with a 10-8 victory to establish a foothold after the amateurs had won three consecutive years.

Ed Brill earned two points to help lead the professionals. Rob Simmons and Jordan Carpenter each picked up two points for the amateurs.
